In the current socio-political context, increasingly divided and dominated by the rise of far-right movements, the show At Dawn, the Light is Harsher proposes an emotional-reflexive foray into the history of a tragic destiny.
At Dawn, the Light is Harsher centers on the story of the fighter Olga Bancic, an emblematic figure of the anti-fascist resistance. Olga Bancic’s personal and political history is the history of radical actions of individual and collective contestation and struggle against fascism. Today, more than ever, revisiting the 1930s and 1940s is a fundamental gesture of awareness of a turbulent, nationalist, extremist past, which can help us to understand our present in depth.
The show is based on extensive research of archives – which contain files of anti-fascist fighters from the illegal communist movement – and of the press from the 1940s, published in Romania and France.
At Dawn, the Light is Harsher starts from documentary materials, theatrically explored through fictional means.
The show At Dawn, the Light is Harsher is part of the project initiated and organized by the ADO Association and co-financed by the National Cultural Fund Administration – AFCN.
The project does not necessarily represent the position of the National Cultural Fund Administration. AFCN is not responsible for the content of the project or how the project results may be used. These are entirely the responsibility of the funding beneficiary.
